Balgreen School

Word of our neighbourhood food saving project spread and in spring of 2022, after chatting to one of the school staff about our work, we were thrilled that Balgreen staff, kids and parents were keen to get involved.

We met with the headteacher, Mr Napier, and got the ball rolling straight away.

Historically we have found it difficult when given large batches of foods, mostly potatoes and breads. Dropping off to single venues meant that one place could only accommodate so many of one item. But thanks to the school, and their large network of local families, now those items can be made available to collect at school drop off and pick up time.

We are delighted that the school also encourage the kids to get involved, teaching a new generation how to prevent food waste. Creating food saving and money saving habits for them in the future.
