Who we are
TTummies Not Trash is an Edinburgh-based food redistribution charity working to prevent good food from going to waste.
Our volunteers collect surplus food from supermarkets and other businesses across the city, bring it to our Gorgie Hub and make it available to the community.
We are a Scottish Charitable Incorporated Organisation – SC052166 – and are currently run entirely by volunteers.
The people behind Tummies Not Trash
Tummies Not Trash works because people across Edinburgh choose to give their time, skills and support.
Our Hub volunteers welcome visitors and prepare rescued food for distribution. Our Collection Team collects surplus food from businesses across the city, often late in the evening. Other volunteers help with administration, communications, events and the many less-visible jobs that keep the charity operating.
They come from different backgrounds and bring different experiences, but they have one important thing in common: they don’t like seeing good food go to waste – and they do something about it.

It takes a community
Our work is only possible because different parts of the community work together:
Our volunteers
The people who collect, sort and redistribute surplus food and keep the charity running every day.
Our food partners
The supermarkets and other businesses that make their surplus food available for collection instead of throwing it away.
Our community
The people who visit the Hub, use the rescued food and help ensure that it fulfils its purpose.
Together, we prevent good food from becoming waste and make better use of resources that already exist.
What matters to us
Waste prevention
Good food should be used, not thrown away.
Fairness
Our Hub is open to everyone, with the same system for every visitor.
Community
Lasting change happens when volunteers, businesses and local people work together.
Be part of it
Whether you want to volunteer, donate surplus food or support our work in another way, we’d be delighted to hear from you.
